Hey Me

Hello, I'm Syd Murray, author and artist of The Legend of the Rock Monster Clan1. I'm happily married to my husband of 35 yrs.  We currently reside in Pasco,Wa. 

I've always had a vivid imagination and a fascination for Tolkein style fantasy art. The original work he did. He used to illustrate his own books ya know! Adventure stories with a whimsical twist always have been my muse. I always wanted to write a story like that!

I work in an elementary school library. I thoroughly enjoy being surrounded by my best friends; Stories. Working there has given me an insight into what kids like to read. It helps me connect with my audience.  My book is for all ages, the young and young at heart! 

Right now I am blessed to be able to stay home with my family and take care of my Mom. I have 4 grown kids, 10 grandchildren. Currently in my home are 2 nephews, my Husband and my Mom. Oh, and my faithful dog Duke. He is lying next to me right now.

My family inspire me to bring my characters to life. Some of my characters are my kids. But I'm not going to say who! 😉 

I have always fantasized ok, I'm a daydreamer.  As a matter of embarrassing kids stories, my family called me drifty Syd. My book is just another one of my fantasies.  Lol! 🤣

I love sci/fi fantasy, adventure/fantasy

Whymsical stories of faith and courage are my favorite. I especially love fantasy creatures. Our imaginations are limitless. My favorite quote: "Fear gives horrible council. Unless it is the fear of the Lord. God didn't give you a spirit of fear. He gave you a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 This principal is communicated in the story in my book. Overcoming fear is a major thing in everyone's lives. But when you do (I know you will) overcome it you'll really be free! I hope to get this message in the minds and hearts of everyone who will listen. Young and old. Who inspires me? My Dad who taught me art.

Harriette Tubman. Her courage to do what she knew was right even at the risk of death moved me as a child and still does.
